Health Plan Alliance enhances members’ ability to connect with their peers

Health Plan Alliance

10/30/2017

The number one value the Health Plan Alliance brings its members is its ability to connect people to people and people to information.  What makes these connections possible (members with the Alliance, members to their peers, and members to the information they care about most) is members’ healthplanalliance.org profile. Starting November 1, Health Plan Alliance members will be prompted to complete two new required questions, job role and areas of responsibility, as well as review and update their interests and communication preferences in their profile.

Newly added questions and other recent changes make networking and sharing even easier
Alliance members avidly praise the traditional networking opportunities the Alliance provides. Those who attend one of the dozen multi-disciplinary Value Visits the Alliance hosts each calendar year value what happens outside the sessions―the chance to connect with colleagues between sessions and over dinner.  It’s also not uncommon for Alliance members to say “hello” to one another during a Value Call, or ask another member if they can connect individually later that day.  Discussion forums are no exception, with conversations often resulting in members offering to discuss topics offline to one another directly. For this vibrant network of over 4,000 healthcare professionals across the country, relationships matter, and those relationships (members’ ability to connect and leverage the knowledge of one another) starts with their personal profiles.

Make the most of your membership―Update your profile on Nov. 1
Analysis of Alliance member engagement shows that members who have complete and current profiles get the most value out of the Alliance. This is not surprising considering members’ profiles are how the Alliance networking engine connects its members to people and information.
When members complete their profile, they answer important questions for the Alliance, like:

  • What operational or strategic topics do I really want to connect on with others?
  • Do I prefer webinars or do the in-person networking events really work better for me?
  • And, NEW on November 1st: What role do I fill for my organization and how do I connect with others with similar responsibilities among the Alliance membership?

A member’s profile also controls the communications they receive from their Alliance peers outside of virtual and in-person meetings. Members can opt-in to receive email alerts when someone posts a question or response to an online discussion that matches their interests or opt-in to the NEW daily discussion e-digest which recaps all discussion forum activity from the previous day into a single email (a good way to stay informed with a lot less emails to read).

What’s changing on November 1?
Starting November 1, the Alliance is rolling out two new profile fields that members will be required to complete the next time they log in: job role and areas of responsibility. By taking a couple of minutes to complete these questions, the Alliance networking engine will be better able to connect its members to the people, resources, and networking events that they care about and help Alliance health plan members achieve their strategic goals.
