This discussion will be lead by Jason Davis, Business and Product Development Consultant, The Phia Group and will cover the fundamentals of reference based pricing (RBP).  RBP is a term used by many in our industry to describe any claim pricing methodology grounded in analysis of an objective value and paying some multiple of what value, for medical services rendered.  popular parameters used for RBP include Medicare pricing (perhaps the most widely-used), the provider's reported costs, average wholesale price, and others.   Plans often evaluate a combination of strategies including RBP, network contracts, narrow networks and others.
