Dr. Sam Toney, CEO of Toney HealthCare Consulting, will address the optimal ways to engage integration of behavioral and physical health within two scenarios:

  1. When a health plan's behavioral health care is "carved out" by regulatory or other reasons
  2. When both are managed by the health plan

This session will explore each model and recommend specific actions a health plan can take to realize more integrated care management within their own environment.

 

Learning objectives include:

  • Background understanding of the two models
  • Barriers and challenges within each model
  • Why integration of behavioral and physical health management is important and the impact it can have on financial, quality and satisfaction measures
  • Specific action steps a health plan can take within each model to drive a more integrated approach to care management:  Comprehensive integration and partial integration (when a carve out exists)
