Kick off call: MA CPE Audit Program

MA Compliance leaders from Alliance health plans come together to kick off the 2020 MA CPE Audit Program. We’ll review the audit tool and outline the program’s timeline and next steps for participating plans.  Each participating plan is asked to send one delegate to the call, or watch the recording when available, so that you’re ready to get started!

About the program:

This reciprocal program allows Alliance member MA plans to meet CMS requirements for an annual external audit of your compliance program effectiveness by partnering with the compliance team of a fellow Alliance member organization.  Each year, participating Alliance members save $50-$75K on consulting fees because you don’t have to hire an external auditor to complete this review.  If your health plan hasn’t yet turned in your commitment form to participate in this reciprocal program, and you’d like to participate, contact us: info@healthplanalliance.org.  Please reply by March 27, 2020 – simply complete the attached form and send it back via email.

How the program works:

• Our CPE program committee reviews and updates an audit tool based on the CMS Audit Protocol and Self-Assessment Questionnaire, as well as updated compliance program requirements. A special thank you goes to Angela Keenan, Network Health Plan; Tracy Jones, SummaCare; and Vilaida Rivera, Scott & White who again agreed to review the program for 2020!  
• Interested plans should submit the attached 2020 CPE Program Commitment Form by Friday, March 27. If there are others on your team whom you would like to include in the roll out of the program, please provide me their names and contact information.
• Each plan is paired with another Alliance member organization to conduct these audits on a mutually agreed-upon timeline in 2020.
• The Alliance will send all supporting tools, and will host an informational “how-to” call to support all participants in completing the audit by the agreed-upon timeline.
• After audit completion, each participant completes and submits a feedback form to the Alliance.

You can visit the discussion forum and post a question anytime. It's only available to Alliance members, so you question is private and secure. When submitting a question, you can select which topics your question is related to. Individuals who have indicated in their Alliance profile they are interested in those topics and are opted in to discussion forum emails will receive your question. You can also add an attachment to your question or reply, making this tool another great resource for sharing best practices with your peers.
