Financial Analyst

SUMMARY
Financial Analyst applies analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills to fulfill requests for financial impact reports and requests for information. Responsible for coordination, creation and production of financial reports to assist in development and maintenance of a cost effective managed care provider network; produces financial and operational analysis that identifies and evaluates the financial impact of alternative contracting solutions and optimum courses of action; ongoing analysis of participating provider contract reimbursement terms; medical claims analysis. Business knowledge is applied to data output and analyses to identify trends, anomalies and to facilitate cost improvements. Financial Analyst will develop various types of analysis such as cost-benefit and financial studies; participate in the development and support of standardized departmental provider reporting; conduct internal and external data research as necessary; document and communicate analytical findings with clarity; participate in the development and support of standardized departmental reporting for operational planning, management and decision making activities; acts as a strategic resource for network development activities.

EDUCATION
Bachelors Related Field. Experience in lieu of education equals four (4) years of healthcare or insurance financial analytics

EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years Healthcare or Two (2) years Analysis.

OTHER SKILLS
One (1) year experience in one or more of the relevant subject areas (e.g. ambulatory, inpatient, insurance, finance). Knowledge of Medicare reimbursement methodologies, bundled payment, pay for performance programs, facility or professional billing and coding. Proficient computer skills including Windows-based applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, etc.) or other online collaborative tools. Full understanding of databases, query languages and concepts. Proficient knowledge of reporting tools (e.g. Crystal, Access, SQL, Tableau) used to fill data/information requests. Working knowledge of database applications or reporting tools. Ability to create, manipulate and report from various data sources. Experience presenting statistical analysis and graphical data display in a clear and concise manner for a variety of audiences that have varying levels of understanding. Proficient analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills. Proven ability to interpret data, identify trends and anomalies. Proven aptitude and interest in working with complex situations, analysis, systems and processes. Excellent communication skills (oral and written) across all levels of the department and organization for audiences with varying levels of understanding. Proven commitment to teamwork and exceptional customer service within and outside department. Ability to present oneself and one's ideas with clarity, confidence and poise. Ability to identify and facilitate process improvement activities. Ability to mentor and train staff on reports, use of data and tools.
