VP Underwriting

Health Alliance Plan (HAP) is a regional health plan headquartered in Detroit. Our mission: “to

Overview:
• Provides executive leadership to the underwriting department to meet or exceed profitability targets, revenue requirements and market share expectations consistent with organizational goals and objectives.
• Collaborates closely with Chief Financial Officer, Chief Marketing Officer and others within the Sales and Marketing areas in the development of strategies to meet membership and revenue targets through effective products, pricing and market segmentation. Responsible for pricing and financial bid related activities for HAP's Medicare Advantage programs and all of the functions of the Underwriting Department.
• Represents HAP interests and values in the community and as a senior executive, seeks to enhance and be responsible for business development and expansion through strong interpersonal relationships and service excellence. Represents HAP in various HFHS forums and activities.

Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics or Business Administration or a related field is required.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in health insurance or health plan underwriting.
• Five (5) years of progressive management experience.
• Capable of both strategic thinking and concrete, disciplined execution.
• Demonstrated experience successfully planning, organizing, managing and implementing Executive Level projects.
• Must be familiar with applicable standards, regulations, laws, and other requirements for a health plan operating in multiple lines of business.
