This position directs SelectHealth financial planning and analysis (i.e., operating budget, five-year plan, and financial forecasts/projections). It oversees the preparation of SelectHealth monthly, quarterly, and year-to-date financial reports and dashboards and ensures accurate and timely financial information is provided to internal users. This position focuses on selecting, developing, training and motivating a high performing group of financial leaders and analysts.

Essential Job Duties

1. Oversees the following SelectHealth financial planning processes: operating budget, five-year plan, and financial forecasts/projections.

2. Directs the development, deployment, and maintenance of certain SelectHealth financial planning, forecasting and budgeting processes, applications, and templates.

3. Provides strategic direction and guidance to ensure financial planning processes are standardized and consistent with leading practices.

4. Collaborates with the SelectHealth CEO and Executive Team to establish the annual operating budget and long-range financial targets.

5. Partners with the SelectHealth Strategic Planning and other Finance and Operations leaders to ensure strategic plans and capital assumptions are reflected in the annual operating budget and five-year plan.

6. Coordinates with the SelectHealth CFO as well as other Finance leaders throughout the planning and budgeting processes to ensure accuracy and consistency in assumptions and approach.

7. Organizes the annual five-year plan and operating budget reports and presentations for the Executive Team, Finance Committee and Board of Trustees.

8. Manages the preparation of SelectHealth monthly, quarterly, and year-to-date financial reports and dashboards and ensures accurate and timely financial information is provided to internal users.

9. Partners with the Controller in managing the preparation of monthly and quarterly operating reports for Management Committee, Finance and Audit Committees, and the Board of Trustees.

10. Manages the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-to-date financial reports and dashboards related to the operating budget to assist managers in understanding their operations.

11. Reviews reports to identify significant variances and key areas of concern and coordinates resolution of variances and concerns with management.

12. Oversees the creation and implementation of processes to query and load key indicators and statistics into SelectHealth financial systems.

13. Focuses on selecting, developing, training, and motivating a high performing group of Finance Managers and Financial Analysts.

14. Serves as staff support for the SelectHealth CFO and provides additional support to various SelectHealth leaders.

15. Manages analysis supporting strategic management decision making. Communicates and coordinates effectively with stakeholders to understand strategic priorities, provide analytical support for those priorities, and ensure decisions are made based on sound analysis and data. Develops appropriate relationships with customers such that incumbent is viewed as a colleague and problem solver.

16. Consults on strategic initiatives. Works with key organizational stakeholders to provide analytical support on system-wide strategies. Coordinates with other healthcare organizations to share knowledge and engage in other collaborative arrangements.

17. Consults on improvement initiatives. Partners with operational and clinical leaders to identify and evaluate improvement opportunities, and works with them to measure and realize financial improvements while supporting care delivery models that support extraordinary care.

18. Responsible for building and training an effective analytic team, including employee engagement, adoption of best practices, and problem resolution. Reviews, prioritizes, and assigns work for analysts and staff. Evaluates innovative analytical methods for inclusion in the analyst toolbox. Ensures access to needed resources such as hardware, software and data. Coaches and develops supervisors and analysts.

19. Adopts and participates in identified analytic best practices and initiatives. Facilitates the definition and implementation of standards for metrics, tools, designs, and processes supporting applicable analytical services.

Minimum Requirements
•Master's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting and 10 years of progressive professional healthcare insurance experience, with five years of experience in directly leading and managing staff or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting and 12 years of progressive healthcare insurance experience, with seven years of experience directly leading and managing staff. (Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.)
