Medical Staff Coordinator II


The Medical Staff Coordinator II is responsible and accountable for providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Experience, and Stewardship by coordinating the medical staff credentialing function. Accountable for the coordination of all aspects of organizing and supporting meetings required to accomplish credentialing in conformance with established policies, regulations and laws.



Primary Accountabilities
•Assist in organizing a comprehensive credentialing program to ensure compliance with the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and regulatory authorities such as The Joint Commission.
•Participates and coordinates in the credentialing process for the medical staff, allied health professionals, locum tenens physicians and observers/students.
•Coordinates the credentialing and clinical privileging process of new applications and reappointment application to the Medical Staff and Allied Health Professionals.
•Ensures credentialing file is complete and accurately verified along with all required documentation prior to review of the Department Chairman and Manager.
•Accurate and timely assignment of computer numbers and entering of new physicians into all credentialing & hospital software programs for staff physicians/AHPs to include demographic and personal information, education/training, licensure, DEA, liability information, immunization status, board certification status, UPIN and NPI numbers, ECFMG certifications, and group affiliations.
•Timely and accurate preparation of the FPPE/OPPE evaluation for Provisional Staff members during their provisional period and subsequent elevation to Active Staff status.
•Assists in the maintenance of all practitioners' credentials files; assuring that all mandatory documents (license, DEA registration, professional liability documentation, etc) are current and on file.
•Assists in maintaining the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, ensuring review and updating as directed by the Medical Staff.
•Participates and takes minutes at designated medical staff department meetings. Meeting minutes are recorded, transcribed and distributed according to policy and agreed upon time frame.
•Assist in the preparation of appointment/reappointment letters and delineation of privileges to Medical Staff members regarding additional privileges granted, LOAs, requests for resignation, denial or privileges, summary suspensions, requests for Corrective Action, Appointment to Emeritus Staff, etc.
•May supervise and serve as an adviser to new associates within the department.
•Provides and engages in excellent customer service with members of the Medical Staff, Administration and other entities in our out of the organization.



Qualifications


•Associates degree or Certification by the National Association of Medical Staff Services


•5 years of healthcare experience (Credentialing experience required)


•Demonstrates excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills


•Ability to prioritize and organize to maximize quality, value and service


•Must be able to type and work a keyboard with reasonable proficiency


•Personal computer knowledge necessary with proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft office applications, and Midas (Medical Staff Software Program) preferred.


•Must be able to work independently with assertiveness
