Financial Analyst

Job Summary / Impact:

The analyst provides analytical support for the Financial Planning & Analysis unit within the Finance department. This support will involve multiple projects including, but not limited to, preparation of reserves, budges and miscellaneous financial reports. Duties involve the preparation of routine reports, modifying existing reports, writing new reports, and analyzing data using SAS, Excel, and other tools as necessary. The analyst also answers questions and provides clarification as necessary regarding data and analysis to upper management, other departments, and outside entities including actuaries, auditors, and providers.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions:

• Prepares and assists in the creation of various financial analysis reports.
• Assists in calculation of monthly budget variances and provides explanations for identified variances.
• Assists with preparation of reinsurance and transplant reporting and auditing.
• Assists in the development and production of the corporate report.
• Creates ad hoc reports as requested by management, outside actuaries, and auditors.
• Assists in the payment and reporting of various commissions.

Required Qualifications:
Knowledge / Skill / Ability

• Ability to analyze and manipulate data in the area of financial analysis.
• Skill and proficiency in the use of advanced spreadsheets, database and statistical software on a personal computer.
• Ability to communicate results and findings in a clear and concise manner.
• Successful completion of Health Care Sanctions background check.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to converse and write fluently in English.
• Proficiency: Excel 90% Overall

Equivalent Education / Experience

• BS or higher degree in accounting, finance, economics, mathematics or statistics.
• One to three years of financial analysis experience preferred.
• SAS experience preferred.
• Health care experience preferred.
