The Commercial Products Development Manager (Medicare) is responsible for the day to day operations of the SelectHealth Advantage Medicare product, including management of associated vendor/partner relationships and contracts. This position will be the main resource for operational departments within the organization to ensure the products are administered correctly and the manner in which the product is described in the marketplace is accurate. The position will take a central position in work related to the submission of the annual bids to CMS and ensure that benefits submitted in the bids are consistent with benefit set up in our systems.


In addition, working with the SelectHealth Medicare Compliance Officer, this position will be responsible for compliance with all related CMS requirements.


Essential Job Duties

Responsible to assist the Director of Medicare programs to ensure Medicare products are positioned to meet SelectHealth membership growth goals and NOI targets. This includes management of the entire product life cycle (market intelligence, conceptualization, product development, launch, growth, maturity, and retirement). Ensures products meet highest levels of market need, administrative efficiency, customer satisfaction, regulatory compliance, and financial performance.


Responsible for introduction of new medicare products to market. Works with sales, marketing, broker relations, and other internal departments to develop multi-channel product distribution strategies, ensure effective communication/promotional strategies, develop key messaging for products and key strategic market/regulatory issues, and produce product materials and sales collateral, etc. Responsible for internal and external training on features, benefits, and the value proposition of products and services.
Understands new legislation and regulations related to Medicare and the associated impact to product viability. Identifies opportunities, challenges, and solutions for impacted business segments. Works with internal compliance and legal departments to ensure compliance of all product offerings. Responsible to ensure timely and accurate annual product submissions/filings.
Educates, collaborates, and communicates with SelectHealth departments to ensure understanding of SelectHealth strategic positioning and ensure effective integration of SelectHealth product strategies with system strategies and initiatives. Provides insurance market and product education to internal teams.
Monitors national carrier and local competitor products, positioning, strategies, networks, as well as local and national industry trends. Identifies emerging market trends. Conducts market research (multiple markets/geographies) and analysis; customer research; and concept testing for potential new product opportunities or service area expansions. Ensures that customer research and market/competitive intelligence is utilized to ensure optimal product positioning.
Manages relationships with vendors, partners, and affiliate contracts as applicable.
Monitors key performance indicators for all Medicare product lines.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, economics, a clinical field, public health, healthcare, or public administration. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
Four years of experience in health care, health insurance, managed care, employee health benefits management, or self-insured plan administration.
Four years of experience with product development, product management, project management, service line management, network development, strategic planning, or business development.
Demonstrated strong skills in planning, detail and accuracy, creative thinking, and verbal, written and interpersonal communication.
Demonstrated skills in spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, word processing, and internet research.
Willingness and availability to travel on occasion.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with Medicare Advantage program requirements
Medicare Advantage operations experience
Project management experience
Master's degree
