Job Summary

The Accounting Clerk performs clerical duties involving routine calculations, verifications, and postings to process or compile financial data or records according to standard procedures and methods, which are applicable to virtually all transactions encountered.

Major Work Activities

Daily monitoring and processing of cash transactions including member premium payments, claims EFT and check batches, bank lockbox activity, and credit transactions. Assists in the monthly bank reconciliation processes during Close.
Daily monitoring and processing of Accounts Payable. Ensure all invoices are approved and processed timely. Assists in monthly accrual process by identifying and tracking all outstanding expenses.
Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.
Facilitates with year-end and regulatory audits.
Perform routine clerical tasks such as filing, photocopying, and scanning.
Directly support the Senior Accountant and Director of Accounting and assist in ad hob financial reporting assignments.
Other duties as assigned.

Education

High School diploma

Licensure/Certification

Valid Driver's License

Experience

1-2 years of experience in an office environment.
Strong Excel skills.
Basic knowledge of Accounting processes
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge Generally Accepted Accounting Principals(GAAP)
Demonstrated knowledge of Statutory Accounting Principals
Strong in the following competencies:

Problem Solving/Analysis
Communication
Creativity/Innovation
Intermediate skills in Word, Excel. Access, and PowerPoint
Self-motivated with excellent follow-through.

Preferred Qualifications

Education

Associate's degree in Accounting or Business Administration

Experience

3 years of Accounting experience
Healthcare or Medicare experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of the healthcare environment
Understanding of Medicare Advantage and Part D Programs
