Senior Assistant General Counsel

The Position:
Samaritan Health Services is seeking a Senior Assistant General Counsel – Health Plans. This individual will be a key member of the Health Plan leadership team reporting directly to the Vice President, General Counsel at our corporate headquarters in Corvallis, Oregon.

The Primary Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of the Senior Assistant General Counsel – Health Plans include: health plan Board governance, health plan contracting, insurance regulation and coverage, including all aspects of state insurance regulation, Medicare Advantage, and Coordinated Care Organization processes. This position will also provide legal guidance for provider or member disputes, commercial contracting, including risk contracting arrangement and value-based care initiatives. She/He serves as a primary resource to business leaders and navigator to address legal issues impacting complex business problems or strategies and oversees substantive legal projects within the Health Plan coordinating with and having accountability to the Vice President, General Counsel of SHS.

The Person:
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in a law firm and/or in-house counsel for an integrated healthcare delivery system, or a combination of the two, providing guidance on the primary subjects identified above. We also seek a creative and collaborative leader with significant experience in furthering strategic initiatives. This position requires a JD and current licensure. If not currently licensed in Oregon, must be able to obtain a license within 12 months of hire.
