Health Plan Alliance welcomes new member Peoples Health

IRVING, Texas ― The Health Plan Alliance is expanding its community of provider-sponsored and independently-owned health plans. The organization today announced that Peoples Health, based in Metairie, La. joined the Alliance as its newest member.
With more than 20 years in business, Peoples insures 60,000 Medicare Advantage and Dual/SNP members and is owned by the New Orleans regional Physician Hospital Organization, Inc. (dba People Health Network). Peoples was founded by medical providers and remains guided by physicians with a focus on providing coverage to people with Medicare. In 1997, in the formative years of Medicare Advantage (at the time called “Medicare + Choice”), Peoples Health launched a demonstration project to help Medicare test the Medicare Advantage concept. Today, Peoples is one of Louisiana’s largest Medicare Advantage plans.
"We are excited to welcome Peoples Health as our newest member,” said Dennis Bolin, Alliance chief experience officer. “The Peoples Health team is already very engaged and led two sessions at our November 2017 Clinical Informatics Value Visit. As a member, their thought leaders will undoubtedly continue that level of collaboration both at value visits, virtual events and through the Alliance website.
