San Joaquin county administrator joins health commission – Health Plan of San Joaquin (HPSJ) governing board

07/27/2016

(French Camp, CA) – San Joaquin County Director of Health Care Services Greg Diederich – chair of the San Joaquin Health Commission – has announced that the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors has formally appointed County Administrator for San Joaquin County Monica Nino to the board of the Health Commission, the governing board of Health Plan of San Joaquin (HPSJ).

Monica Nino assumed the County Administrator position in June of 2013 after serving as the Chief Executive Officer for Stanislaus County, where she began her career in local government in 1988.

As San Joaquin County Administrator, serving under the direction of the County Board of Supervisors, she oversees 26 county departments, an annual operating budget of $1.42 billion, and over 6,700 county employees.  In addition to the Health Commission, Ms. Nino currently serves on the Sex Offender Management Board (appointed by Governor Brown), San Joaquin General Hospital Foundation Board, the Council of Governments Management & Finance Committee, and iHub San Joaquin.

Born and raised in Stanislaus County, Ms. Nino earned her AA from Modesto Junior College, her bachelor’s degree in accounting from California State University, Fresno, and her master’s degree in public administration from California State University, Stanislaus.

“With Monica Nino’s long and distinguished leadership as a public administrator, and her deep roots in both San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties, she will provide valuable knowledge and perspective to the Commission when it comes to stewardship and oversight roles across the two-county geography HPSJ serves,” said Diederich.
