First Health User Group 2021 Quarterly Meeting - January

The Health Plan Alliance ( Alliance) entered a group purchasing arrangement (GPO) with First Health (FH).  The new GPO will give Alliance member plans the advantage of leveraged group purchasing of network access and related services.   Among the reasons the Alliance replaced Multiplan, which was our GPO partner for many years, was that members wanted more from the GPO relationship than simply reduced access fees.  Specifically, members identified the need for a forum in which to address the challenges of managing out of network (OON) claims.  

To that end, we are inviting your plans to join us for the Health Plan Alliance- First Health GPO User Group (UG).  The UG is formed on behalf of you, our members, that contract with FH for Network Access. The UG will create a forum to promote communication between your plan and other Alliance member plans that use FH as well as between plans and FH, itself, to address challenges and opportunities in managing OON claims.

The objectives of this initial meeting include:

• Enhance communication with FH on all aspects of network performance and related services
• Identify opportunities for FH network enhancements/refinements
• Share common challenges/successes in managing OON claims
• Identify cost containment opportunities and initiatives
• Share relevant data
• Monitor the GPO contract and advise on enhancements/refinements going forward
• Other topics and efforts as designated by the UG
              
Membership in the UG is open to all Alliance member plans that purchase network access services through FH.  We are asking each plan to designate a representative and an alternate to the UG to ensure all member plans that are FH customers have the opportunity to engage in the UG and provide relevant feedback that will help to improve our overall relationship with FH.  All of the UG meetings are also open to other Alliance member plans  that  may wish to participate.
