Medicaid Leaders 2019 Strategic Retreat

Event Date: 12/9/2019 - 12/10/2019

Event Overview

A strategic retreat for Medicaid leaders

The Alliance is hosting a strategic retreat for top leaders of our health plans operating in Medicaid.  This invitation-only event is an exclusive networking and learning opportunity for the health plan leader with P/L responsibility for your Medicaid health plan, and is designed to facilitate meaningful sharing in a safe environment you won’t find at any other conference.

Designed to optimize your time away from the office, the event is conveniently located at the Alliance headquarters in Dallas.  This venue is only a short taxi ride from our two major airports and – more importantly – provides an intimate setting in which leaders can speak openly.  You'll gain fresh perspectives from other executives wrestling with the same strategic and operational challenges you’re facing back at home.

This retreat is structured as a strategic conversation among the leaders of Alliance Medicaid health plans, and participants will share their organizations’ response to market shifts, so that everyone may benefit from new ideas, challenges overcome and lessons learned through strategic pivots.  The retreat facilitator will guide the discussion to ensure an optimal mix of conversation, learning and networking.

Strategic topics we’ll cover

  • How is your organization approaching value based contracting arrangements? Whether with primary care or ancillary providers, moving from a FFS model is challenging.  Is your health plan partnering successfully with your state Medicaid office to shape changes? What barriers are preventing you from moving in this direction? Risk adjustment? Rate setting challenges? Capturing acuity?

  • Across the country, regional Medicaid plans face key, strategic threats to traditional Medicaid primary care delivery.  The CVS-Aetna partnership and new players like Oak Street are disrupting models. How is your Medicaid plan pivoting to stay relevant and deliver quality primary care to your Medicaid populations?

  • Is your organization making significant investments in your core systems or other infrastructure elements? How are you addressing growing compliance, privacy and security concerns?

  • Provider relations remain a challenge for all Medicaid plans, particularly given the rates our plans can pay when compared to commercial payers.  How is your Medicaid plan approaching your provider relationships?  Do you face abrasion concerns? What is working for your plan, or what have your tried that hasn't worked?

  • How is your Medicaid plan approaching the opioid crisis in your service area?  In many states, more stringent requirements for these programs are becoming the norm.  What interventions is your Medicaid health plan pursuing? What funding and partnership models are proving most promising?

  • Does your health plan have any breakthrough strategies on meeting your quality goals?  Are there particularly challenging areas of quality you consistently address well? Measures where opportunity for significant improvement remains?
