Maternity Health Mini-Series: Value-Based Maternity Bundle Design

Event Date: 10/7/2021

Event Overview

Thursday, 10/7/2021
1:00 PM CT – 2:00 PM CT (60 minutes)
Hosted by: Wildflower Health

When it comes to maternity bundle design, Dr. CJ Stimson and Leah Sparks both bring valuable insight to the table. Dr. Stimson has extensive experience in clinical transformation and alternative payment models and led bundled payment policy and program development at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Today, he is the physician lead of the team responsible for designing bundled programs for specific episodes - including maternity.

Meanwhile, Leah Sparks and her team at Wildflower have developed a comprehensive model for helping OBs make the shift from volume to value-based care, beginning with the maternity episode. The company currently works with a wide range of health plans, hospitals, health systems, employers, and OB practices to create better maternity outcomes for all moms.

Together, CJ and Leah will share what they know about maternity bundle design and what’s next for improved adoption and outcomes. Topics will include:

  • What barriers have slowed the adoption of maternity bundles, and how do we overcome them?
  • What are best practices and lessons learned from recent bundles?
  • How can we design bundles to scale and work for payers and providers of all sizes?
  • How should payers and providers more effectively collaborate moving forward? What roles should each stakeholder fulfill?
  • What are the near-term innovations that will most dramatically influence maternity bundle design?
