MASBC PY 2023: Jam Session 1 - Transportation and Flex Cards

Event Date: 8/10/2021

Event Overview

Tuesday, 8/10/2021
10:30 AM CT – 12:30 PM CT (2 Hours)

Today the Medicare Advantage Supplemental Benefits Consortium (MASBC) for Plan Year 2023 begins its deep dive into our learning curriculum.  Attendance is by invitation only and includes those Alliance members who have completed the MASBC participation commitment form and kick-off survey.

If you missed the kick-off call and would like to sign your organization up, check out the information HERE and contact Kristin Rodriguez for more details.

WHAT WILL WE COVER DURING THE MASBC's FIRST LEARNING SESSION?

Alliance members identified the supplemental benefits about which they are eager to learn more, and on August 10th our project faculty provides a strategic overview and "state of play" for two key MA supplemental benefits member plans are exploring now: non emergency transportation and Flex cards/Flex wallets.

We have learned a great deal about these supplemental benefits since the PY2022 bids were submitted and our expert faculty will walk Alliance members through how these benefits' broad introduction has impacted the MA market nationwide.

In addition, a panel of Alliance member plans will kick off the health plan discussion by sharing out their experience with these benefits.  Among those plans who have implemented transportation, the results have in general been a bit underwhelming ... we'll explore why.  And while there is a great deal of interest in flex cards, the transition from exploration to implementation has been difficult for many Alliance members.  We're going to dig into those barriers and hear how our colleagues are approaching them with their own teams.

THE CALL'S AGENDA:

10:30 AM CENTRAL: Welcome! Kick off with Kristin Rodriguez

10:35 AM CENTRAL: SECTION ONE: TRANSPORTATION

  • Work on the discussion document with your team in advance of the call, so you are prepared to speak up and engage during the member-share out portion of the call.**

Intended Audience for this particular session:

In this session we will be digging deep into the Transportation and the Flex Card benefit.  Each session has learning priorities identified that are of interest to specific stakeholders within your plan:

The state of the benefit will be of most interest to those Medicare Advantage (MA) health plan leaders with responsibility for your MA product design strategy. In addition, those responsible for the following will find participation valuable:

  • Your MA product research and design
  • Submission of your MA bid

Health plan panel and open discussion will be of most interest to MA health plan leaders with responsibility for your MA product implementation strategy. We will encourage health plans to dig into the concerns and barriers experienced when it comes to actually administering the benefit.  In addition, those responsible for the following will find participation valuable:

  • Promoting MA products and services and encouraging member engagement with their benefits
  • Incorporating your MA and Duals product offerings into your SDOH strategy
