SAE & Associates (SAE) was privileged to serve as the Independent Compliance Administrator (ICA) for the AOD between the New York State Office of the Attorney General and a large health plan. Through its work with the plan, the SAE parity team was able to bring the plan into compliance with the prospective measures of the AOD, and significantly improve its UM/UR practices and parity monitoring capabilities.
SAE has also successfully worked with a health plan in California to correct deficiencies noted in the state’s review of its parity compliance efforts. Additionally, SAE worked with another Attorney General’s office on parity compliance performance and monitoring. In this effort in a large Northeast state, SAE developed for the Attorney General’s office parity report cards for each of the state’s six health plans across all lines of business. SAE’s modular approach to parity compliance seeks to identify vulnerabilities and non-compliance in plan performance and monitoring. Using both data analysis and trending, and benefit/policy and practice reviews, SAE delivers a comprehensive profile of a plan’s parity compliance performance—and ways that it can be improved.
