Description of Services: CIMRO is a not-for-profit peer review organization and URAC accredited Independent Review Organization - External. CIMRO's panel includes nearly 500 peer reviewers representing more than 100 specialties and subspecialties to ensure reviews are conducted by a clinical peer matched by specialty and/or care under review. CIMRO's Medical Necessity reviews shall be considered by the fully insured or self funded health plan as part of their utilization review process and in making ultimate coverage decisions. CIMRO's medical necessity reviews are advisory in nature and Clients retain fully responsibility and have sole authority in coverage decisions as the utilization review organization. This keeps ultimate medical necessity decisions at the local provider level. CIMRO can also provide final external review/appeal services for purposes of rendering an opinion regarding the medical necessity, benefits, or coverage for treatment requested/rendered for Self- Funded health plans. Lastly, CIMRO can also provide a variety of consultative services related to quality, utilization review, accreditation, patient safety, etc. We have been a trusted peer review partner since 1952.
