California's Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) introduced new regulations to ensure that current provider compensation models are financially sound. The regulations go into effect July 1, 2019.
This discussion is designed specifically for Alliance members doing business in California. Other Alliance members may be interested because their state is considering similar requirements or members may simply want to be aware of developments.
Impacted arrangement include:
- Capitation
- Risk Pools - sharing in surpluses or loss
- Per diem (unclear)
- DRG (unclear)
Excluded arrangements
- Medicare ACOs (unclear)
- Contracts with insurers regulated by CIO (unclear)
The Sheppard Mullin team have been monitoring the regulations. They will share their understanding of the requirements and actions plans you should be taking. Alliance members will have opportunity to ask questions and seek clarification as well as share their action steps.
