Who we are

We exist to inspire and support health plans to deliver exceptional service, drive transformational care, and champion health and well being.

In 1995 representatives from 8 health plans worked with Vizient to create an organization that would address the specific needs of the provider-sponsored HMO market. The ownership structure, governance and staffing was finalized and the Limited Liability Corporation (LLC) incorporated in June 1996 as the HMO Alliance. In 2004, the organization changed its name and added independent health plans to its membership.  Throughout its history, Alliance members have focused on improving their financial, operational, and clinical performance and market position.
